Rubbermaid Commercial 9VPH12 12" Power Height Upright Vacuum Cleaner, 11A Power, 13.8" Depth x 12" Width x 46" Height

Better than my more expensive vacuum
This was purchased 1 year ago from a restaurant that was going out of business. I also have a Electrolux that is was sold as an air purifying vacuum. I am not a vacuum cleaner expert but for some reason this $250 dollar Rubbermaid sucks up a lot more stuff than the $2000 Electrolux that my grandmother purchased.

This vacuum has no problem with the bits of string and other "sticky" particles like threads and little pilly bits from clothing that my other vacuum won't pick up. It still seems to have a lot of sucking power after more than a year of use and also use at a restaurant.

The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that it will smell a bit like electrical burning if it is on for too long, but it has been that way the whole time I have owned it and it still works. This doesn't bother me, but it might bother some people.

Singing the praises of Rubbermaid
After having a Electrolux canister vac for the past 4 years, I decided to change back to an upright after moving to a house with more carpet. This is not a "light weight" vacuum, significantly heavier than the canister. I like that it is heaver, feels more solid. I didn't even need the instructions (or tools) to put the vacuum together, took less than 5 minutes. It did a great job on the carpet and I am very pleased with the length of the power cord...could probably do the whole house without unplugging which is always nice! Overall initial impression, a nice product to have with two dogs in the house.
(I would say that if I lived in a house with stairs that I probably wouldn't want to lug this up and down the stairs at 27lbs but living in a ranch style home, it is fine.)

Nice vacuum to clean carpets
It has only been a week since I have been using this vacuum. I must say that it is the best vacuum I have used so far(among 5 or so) in order to clean the carpets. Cord is very long, so I can clean my apartment without changing outlets. Brush works very well and I do not have a single human hair left on the carpet after a single pass.
There are two issues prevent a 5 star rating. One is that I have to see about durability, but I will probably update this review after a year or so, unless there is a major issue before then.
Second issue is that mine is "power height" version. This means that brush automatically raises or lowers depending on whether you have carpet or bare floor. If I have known, I would prefer manual height version. I feel like the motor that lower or raises the brush may be broken more easily but only time will tell...
