Ninja Kitchen System 1100

Best of the Best Blender's
Updated 02-02-2012 (added Sugar Free info to recipe)
I got this for my birthday from my husband and son, they are good boys! It was something we had looked at on the TV ads and kept thinking on and surprise, I did get one! I was so happily surprised with the way this contraption did absolutely everything they claimed on the TV ad, although we're not normally the infomercial buying kind of people, we wait for them to hit the stores to trek the "As Seen on TV Isle".

I always start off with a warning when needed, so WARNING, THE BLADES ARE FREAKING SHARP, My husbands already cut himself at least three times just barely touching them, always-always-always keep the blade locked inside the containers, the other pieces can float around your drawers or wherever you keep them, but the blades, keep them locked inside the pitcher/blender units. The Pitchers are also plastic, they don't mar or cut easily, but the blades can and will scar them up, so careful keeping your pitchers...

GREAT Blender, but it is NOT a juicer
I love my Ninja 1100. I use it almost daily for one thing or another. Mostly Gazpacho these days. However, this machine is NOT A JUICER and should never be advertised as such, hence the four stars instead of five. It will NOT give you smooth carrot juice -- ever. It says to cook the carrots a little first, but that defeats the purpose of juicing for the macro-nutrients -- so. I have owned many many many blenders and the Ninja is the best yet -- as long as you think of it as only a blender. It does everything that the infomercial says EXCEPT for juicing.

Good blender
The Ninja is a blender and food chopper. It's a very good blender, and a fairly decent food chopper.

What the Ninja ISN'T:

IT IS NOT A JUICER. It will liquify fruits and vegetables to a drinkable state, but it does not remove the pulp. If you want true juice with no pulp (such as carrot juice and not pureed carrots), buy a juicer. Like the Vitamix, the Ninja can create "juice", but it is from the whole food and will contain pulp and possibly small chunks of food (especially hard foods like carrots).

IT IS NOT A FOOD PROCESSOR. It can be used as a food chopper, but it does not replace a food processor. It does not slice or shred, it only chops and blends. If you want to use it for chopping onion, making salsa, guacamole, pesto, sauces, etc., it should work fine. If you don't need a product to slice vegetables, or shred cheese or veggies, this may work OK as a substitute for a food processor.

IT IS NOT A VITAMIX. It may not blend quite as...
