Love this little sucker!!!!
I own a cleaning service so I use my vacuums all day everyday. Dyson is the only brand that I use. This is my third one and it has not disappointed so far. I also have an older upright about 5-6 years old and the dc39 canister (which I also love). They all work great for different functions/tasks. I particularly love the dc24's space saving design and its versatility.
Here are some things to consider when trying to decide on whether or not this vacuum is right for you:
The number one thing that people need to realize is that NO upright is good for bare floors! In order to obtain good results on bare floors you will need to utilize the pull out wand and hose along with a bare floor attachment such as the articulating hard floor attachment made by Dyson which fits this model. You will also need to utilize the wand feature to reach under beds, tables, and narrow or hard to reach areas. If you are expecting to be able to turn on this vacuum, turn off the spinning...
The Dyson sphere: science fiction comes to life
I live in a basement studio with two dogs and a muddy yard, and this is the perfect vacuum cleaner for me. How many times has this floor really needed a quick vacuuming, but I just didn't feel like hauling my gigantic machine out and then manhandling it around the narrow spaces? Then spending half an hour dismantling it every time it sucked up a stray cable of yarn from the carpet? Now I find myself pulling out the Dyson just to get the dust bunnies or caked mud out of one corner!
It weighs about nine pounds, it fits in all my narrow spaces without having to move the furniture, the sphere turns on a dime, and it can suck the rust off of an abandoned Studebaker. The attachments click on simply and securely. The roller has a sensor that stops it from turning the moment it detects it slowing down because something is caught in the brush, so it doesn't wind around fifty times. The bucket is easy to clean. It's even light for carrying up stairs, and the stairway attachment is so...
Dyson DC24 Animal
I have been waiting for my Oreck to die to purchase a Dyson after trying a friend's Dyson ball two years ago. Lost patience and after a lot of research on Amazon.com decided to buy this model. I was not disappointed in the suction or the maneuverability. I have area carpets, some 20 years old, that almost look new. I did find, though, that it did not pick up small debris. I live in the woods and the critters always bring home gifts of tiny twigs, leaves, etc that were not sucked up even after repeated slow passings with the vacuum. There are two dogs and three cats in our home; two are white. The day after I received the vacuum I tried it on a small chair. I was so excited about how clean it was (I used the mini turbine) I ended up doing all the furniture and then vacuuming all the rugs. I had to empty the bin five times! I have mild asthma so am always concerned about the air when I clean house. Even in a bright sunny room I saw no debris in the air which means I won't be...
