Folding Bread Proofer and Yogurt Maker

Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer--Great!
I have been using my Brod & Taylor folding proofer for about a Month. I didn't expect it to be one of those tools I couldn't live without, but it is. Now that we are moving into the cool months here in the Midwest, my kitchen is around 63F in the morning. I prepare my dough or preferment the night before and it is perfectly bubbling away at the perfect temperature when I get up. I love the way I can set my temperature for the desired dough temperature on a preferment or dough and keep an eye on it through the clear window on top.

I bake artisan style breads and sourdough all the time. This is quickly becoming a tool I couldn't do without.

My wife likes that it easily folds and is stored in a cabinet within a few easy seconds. She also likes to make yogurt in it with the stable temperature setting at 115F.

Highly recommend this product.

Wonderful !
I purchased this about a month ago. I'm long time bread baker and I'm good at it. But even bread won't forgive uneven rising temps, no humidity, etc. It will rise, but not as perfectly as you'd like.

No more rigging the microwave with cups of hot water and all the other things I've used.

This baby works . No need to cover the bread, water in the proofer pan gives the right amount of humidity. Every loaf rises consistently. Everything I've made is either a little bit better or a lot better. It's bigger than you think. I oil the Kitchenaid bowl and plunk it in there. One less thing to clean. Plenty of room for multiple loaves. I have made yoghurt . I like the Greek style. I can get it thick without turning tart in the proofer. I haven't tried it for chocolate yet.

And it folds flat and tucks away nicely. It's really good for getting dough that has been refrigerated up yto temp.

If you love to bake really great bread, sticky...

For once the only choice works.
First off, there are no other "portable proofing ovens". At least not that I can find.

Second, without it I wouldn't be baking bread except at Christmas. We live in a centrally heated home, like the vast majority of people in the industrialized world and there just isn't a place in our house to have 75 to 80 degrees at high humidity. And it seems foolish to raise the house temperature just to raise bread. Sure, heat the oven to 200 and hope it works. Turn on the bathroom heater and hold the bathroom for four hours at 80 degrees and don't forget to keep the humidifier going. And don't forget the eighty quart picnic cooler with the boiling water in the bottom. Sure, these ideas all work. I build furniture as a hobby, I could build a proofing oven. And store it in the attic.

Enter the Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer. I now bake all our bread. When I set up for baking in our kitchen setting up the proofer is just one of the number of parts to my routine. It works just...

Haier HLP21N Pulsator 1-Cubic-Foot Portable Washer

the sounds of this washer.

Terrific little washer!
I recently purchased this, though not from this vendor. My living space is on the top floor and the laundry area is down 2 winding flights of stairs. Someone suggested that if I could do laundry without having it pile up, my life would be easier. So now, this is the first week I have had this installed. Admittedly, I never have overly high expectations of machinery, but I am more than happy with this.

The instructions for the washer are fairly detailed. I ran into trouble over the sink hook-up, just because I did not understand standard terminology. When a friend came in to help, it took him all of 15 minutes (or less). Everything was tightened with a wrench, plus he tied the two hoses (in and out) with a fastener to position them securely. I ran the first load 5 minutes later. No leaks, in spite of what you might have read in other reviews of the same product.

I am not a big person and tonight, the load (at medium, the default setting) was:
1 pair of long...

We love this machine!
I purchased this washer from Target through Amazon last month and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I have been reading the reviews of these the little Haier washers for several months so I was prepared for how the bottom plate works (it bulges out), for the fact that we would struggle a bit getting the screws through the plate and that we needed teflon tape and good pliers to really tighten the hose connections. We were very careful in doing all that and we have no leaks and no odd noises. The sink adapter fit my sink perfectly so I didn't have to find a replacement. All and all, the set-up was easier than I expected.

As far as using it goes, the loads are larger than I thought they would be, the clothes come out very clean and well spun out so they dry quickly. The controls are easy to understand and so far everything has worked as it is supposed to. Our household has three members, myself and two teenagers and so far it is keeping up with us and sparing us the hideous...

DBTech Electric Egg Cooker - With Automatic Shut off an Buzzer to notify you when the eggs are ready

How well it cooks depends on how you measure the water; it works great for us
I like this cooker better than the ones I've used in the past (I have chickens so, trust me, an egg cooker is needed) because I can cook more at a time.

My husband would pour in water and then say he was not happy with the results but each time I used it, it was perfect. So I asked him to do it in front of me. He got some water, poured it in, and turned it on...AHA! So let me share how this works. When the water boils out, the eggs are done. If you don't measure your water and you put in too much, it will keep cooking, if you don't put in enough it will turn off early. The water isn't there just to steam, it also regulates when it's time to turn itself off.

So USE the measuring cup enclosed correctly and you should have flawless eggs.

That said, those of us with very fresh eggs know how hard they can be too peel if you simply boil them. This takes away that issue. The steaming rather than boiling makes for a better boiled egg that is perfectly easy...

Awesome egg cooker (Directions listed) ...
I was really leery of this egg cooker because I saw so many negative comments. Some, on the other hand, raved over the quality of the eggs. So which was it? The problem, as I soon discovered was the quality of the directions, or lack of them. Clarity in this case can make a BIG difference as to how those eggs turn out. I pored over them and took a close look at everything. It was one of those "here goes nothing" moments and that's what I expected. Nothing. Well, I put in four eggs because I thought a little egg salad lunch would be nice and voilà ... it was. I'll try to give you some directions in the form of FAQs and hints that might make your egg experience much easier.

FAQs

Q: Why do I have to put MORE water in when I am cooking fewer eggs?

A: If you think about it, think in terms of the area inside your egg cooker. If you are cooking two eggs the steam has to cover a wider area, therefore you need more water. More eggs, you need...

A good boiler so far
This is an effective egg boiler. You can choose "hard boiled", "half-hard boiled" and "soft boiled" by adding different amount of water by its small cup! It works fast. I didn't calculate the exact time for boiling 2-3 eggs but 5-8 minutes will be enough. There's also a small bowl which is very cute. I never used it but it seems enough to heat soup for one person. Just one thing is its alarm is a bit loud and I can't use is in early morning when my roommate is still sleeping. Hopefully it can last for long. Love it so far.

Replacement Wicking Filter for Air Humidifier MA0800

Does the job but not the right size
This filter is hard to find, as the other reviewers state. It does not come ring shaped. Rather, it is shipped flat, with a couple of folds. You have to reshape it to fit in the humidifier.
Also, it is a tad small. You cannot form a complete ring with it. That probably reduces the dust reduction factor of the humidifier, which is one of advertised factors in the listing ("virtually eliminates dust").

However, since the original filter that came with the humidifier was a perfect ring of the perfect size, the customer is being short changed with this product. There seems to be no alternative to it, however.

Update: I recently (Mar 24) purchased two MAF-2 Essick Filters at homedepot.com less expensive and exactly the right shape and size. Fit easily into the humidifier just like the original one. So, I would say, get this only if the homedepot one isn't available.

Filter Quality and Prices
If you want your humidifier filters to last longer, then use filtered water and an additive to the water to prevent bacteria, as well as mineral build up. We use Golden Solution Combination by Vista Solutions. And if you want to pay a much cheaper price for these filters, go to Lowe's and look for IDYLIS Universal filters. They are currently $8.98 each. We have an Essick Moist Air Humidifier model 12010, and these filters fit fine, though they are boxed flat and have to be shaped...

Hard to get nowadays
Unfortunately, I can;t get the filter in the local stores any longer. However, this buy was essentially fair priced, and filter works as usual. I like the humidifier, so I like this filter to help me keeping it running.

LG Electronics 5231JA2002A Refrigerator Replacement Cartridge Water Filter

Quick shipping and did the job!
Item came quickly and it did the job. If you have an LG, this is the correct product to ensure proper water flow. I had purchased from another vendor a filter that said 'premium' in red which reduced the flow to minimal and we had to stand there for what seemed like ages to get a cup of water. This filter solved the problem and we can now spend our time doing other things besides standing by the fridge. Thanks!

da bomb
Can you actually ever get excited about a water filter? You kidding me? Really? Whatever- It does the job. Peace out

works great
water taste good I had the LG filter and that stopped working after 3 days. this one I know it will last me 6 months.

Keurig® Mini Plus Personal Coffee Brewer -Turquoise Aqua

Keurig Mini
I love this! It is just what I was looking for. I was sold when I saw that I could get one in something besides boring black. Plus it's much smaller than the traditional so it takes up much less counter space! I have been recommending it to many people!

Colors are more fun!
Love the color! Good for a couple or a single person. Fun to have the bright color on my countertop

Love the Mini!
As my first Keurig, I am so impressed by the Mini Plus! I only drink about 1-2 cups of coffee and this perfect for a college student, like myself, but it would be great for anybody! It only takes a couple minutes to make my coffee, which is so much faster than my old coffee maker! I LOVE the colors that this comes in and it was definitely a good investment.

Proctor Silex Sandwich Toaster

Brings me back to my college days
I used to have one of these back in college, ate them all the time, until I graduated and chucked mine out...regretted it to this day so I got another.

We have a foreman - makes great panini but these sandwich makers are one of a kind and can't be replicated in any other machine.

It's for sure a unitasker
You can't use pepridge farm loaves - the slices are too big, think of generic white bread size and you're in luck. Big slices will hang off the side and not give you the perfect triangles you need. You can cut bread to size but that's a lot of work.

you don't need to lube the machine (it's non stick, and you don't need to butter the outside of the bread) - that's just added calories

Suggestions:
I buy a GIANT bag (talking costco size) of mexican cheese blend
Faves: Pepperoni & Cheese
Ham & Cheese
Hot Dog and Cheese
Salami and Cheese
Peanut Butter Sandwiches (I have an aversion to jam/jellys/marmalade) so...

Buy something else - the nonstick coating doesn't last
I was forced to break the lock button on the very first use! The actual toasting is pretty decent. However, with the very first use, the lock button wouldn't release. I actually had to insert a knife to pry the halves apart, which broke the lock. The unit still works. Very, very disappointing, Proctor Silex.

Update: after perhaps a few dozen uses, the non-stick coating (along one dividing edge) has now started to wear off. Because these flakes are potentially carcinogenic when carcinogenic, into the garbage the sandwich maker has gone. How utterly disappointing, P S.

Button Stuck
I received mine in the mail yesterday and was excited but I couldn't get the button on to open the sandwich maker. It was either stuck or defective as my husband couldn't open it either. I am returning mine today.

Universal Cookware Pot Plastic Grip Glass Lid Cover Knob

Screw melted
I used this knob to replace a crockpot lid. Filled it with buffalo chicken, and walked away. A few hours later I went to stir it, and the molten medal of the screw was dripping into my chicken! Had to throw out a dinner for 7!!! Waste of money, Don't buy!!!

ftis my crock pot
i like it better than the orginial, saved the price of buying a new crock pot when mine works fine

Excellent product
This is an excellent replacement knob. Faced with an irrepairable knob for a stockpot lid, I found this product by searching Amazon.com and ordered it. It came promptly, was quickly installed and has worked perfectly. It took several days for my wife to notice that I had replaced the knob and she likes the new one as well or better than the original.

Dirt Devil F8 Type Filter

excellent price
I prefer buying this online. To go to the store and hope they have it in stock is just a pain. The price at the store is more than I would pay online plus shipping. This is a wonderful product. I will continue buying it from Amazon. Thank you. Sherrie Siemons

Great Price Great Product

I liked the Dirt Devil Filters I purchased because they were a perfect fit for my Dirt Devil machine. It was easy to order these filters. Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder

As good as it gets (in grind&brew)
I'm writing from the perspective of someone who has owned more grind&brew coffeemakers than the typical coffee addict. This one is as good a grind&brew machine as anyone makes.

First, the negatives:
- It is definitely loud and long in grinding, as other owners mention. The burr grinding process is wonderfully consistent compared to blade grinding, but it seems to take forever and the noise is enough to wake up the ... sleeping.

- It doesn't have a way to dump out the unusued coffee beans if you want to change blends to another bean (though you can still put pre-ground coffee in the basket while there are beans waiting to be ground.)

- The carafe does tend to make a sort of "cracking" sound when it sits on the hotplate sometimes.

I have owned some of the most popular, and some unusual, grind & brew machines in the past 30+ years, including a very different Capresso long, long ago. There are some models/brands that only have a single...

Best Grind & Brew, Although It Is a Bit Loud
I'm a Top 1000 Reviewer here at Amazon, but haven't reviewed anything in years -- until now. The Capresso 464 compelled me.
First things first. This is not my first grind and brew. My old Melitta Mill & Brew, with its faulty plastic latch long since broken had become a drag. For years I had to put a box of chicken stock on top of the grind chamber to keep it shut so it would work! And while it made pretty good coffee, it seemed to waste grounds by spraying them inside the grinder basket. And the daily cleanup ritual had started to make the whole idea of grinding and brewing in one device seem only of marginal value. And yet, the alternatives, including a best-selling Cuisinart model, have notorious bad reviews here at Amazon for being a total chore to clean.

Enter the Capresso CoffeeTeam GS, which solves all of my problems with its ingenious design. No longer do you have to measure the coffee. The CoffeeTeam GS will brew from 2 to 10 cups automatically, grinding just...

Great coffee maker great service
This is my first review but I'm taking the time to express how impressed I am with this product and the company. I bought the coffee maker/burr grinder combo because of my annoyance with grinding beans that get all over the place. This coffee maker grinder/combo works wonderfully. Put the beans in, set the grind setting, and there you go. The consistency of the grind is awesome! I have it set to grind the finest with a mix of esspresso and columbian beans with no clogging problems at all for over a month now. I was wary because I had heard gripes about how loud the grinder is but I really found it to be quieter than my previous stand alone Cappresso grinder which cost $60 alone. I get up at 0400 and it doesn't wake up the rest of the house. The best part was the customer service. After a couple of days, I noticed that the clock appeared to be off. I measured it over several days and it ended up that the digital clock ran fast which messed up the programmed time I wanted...

Lasko Metal Products 3012 12-Inch Wall Fan

Gym Wall Fans
All six fans arrived in good condition. These fans were easy to assemble.
We have them installed in our home gym. They work great for spot cooling or for moving air in oscillation mode. These fans are light and easy to install.

Solution to keeping cool with limited space
Wall-mount fans are so practical, yet difficult to find. Never have figured out why. This fan was the perfect solution to keeping cool in a small office with absolutely no space to place a fan otherwise. It is easy to mount. However, read the instructions because, while easy, mounting is not necessarily intuitive. The fan has 3 speeds. In a small space (my office is approx. 9' x 10'), the lowest setting circulates the air plenty. It runs quiet and has an extra-long cord to minimize the chance you will have to use an extension cord. It includes a convenient cord, one tug on which turns the fan off. The fan head adjusts up and down by hand-clicking into one of several pre-set positions (nothing to loosen). The oscillation knob is in the traditional position on top of the fan, so keep that in mind when mounting. If you mount it too high, it will be hard to reach. Not an issue for me, because I always let it oscillate. This is the second fan of this model I have bought and have not...

Very good fan
The wall mount is great and the fan is extremely effective even on low. It is also very quiet. It circulates the air so that sleeping in a loft bed is much more comfortable.

Oxy-Sorb 100-Pack Oxygen Absorber, 100cc

Very bad experience, poor quality control
I have ordered many Oxyfree adsorbers and this (it was a huge order) was my first experience with Oxysorb. One package came without a status indicator, I trusted it anyway. They did not function as my others, and were unable to create a small vaccum inside of small canning jars, even when I used two. Another package arriving shortly later (300cc) without any status indicator. My 2000cc adsorbers were unable to "finish off" the vaccum in my 5 gallon bucket of rice, and two in combo were unable to do it in a 5 gallon bucket of beans. The thing with adsorbers is that they must be packaged and handled right to be of high quality when they arrive at your home. A simple visual inspection won't work and it is often hard to identify a failure if you also used a foodsaver type of product. Do not trust your long term food investment to this product unless you know your stuff and can check for function. I recommend Oxyfree brand from known seller instead of this product.

Oxygen zappers.
These are the perfect size to absorb oxygen out of the mason jars we have to keep our dehydrated food dry. These will be used for short and long-term food storage. Put these oxygen absorber inside mylar bags to protect the dried food from spoilage. Great little product.

Does the job.
This was my first purchase of oxygen absorber and unfortunately I didn't educate myself enough prior to purchasing. I wish they would've provided some guide for how many are needed for certain volume containers. In addition, I wish they were individually sealed. As they come, once you open the bag they ALL begin to absorb oxygen. You can re-seal the bag or place them in a Ziploc buy their productivity is greatly reduced every time you do that. My future purchases will be in smaller quantities with larger capacity absorbers.

Oster 6811 6-Cup Glass Jar 12-Speed Blender, Brushed Nickel

absolute junk..here's my story
Based on the other reviews for this product, I felt this would be an economical and well performing blender. It has only led to disappointment and frustration for me.
I bought this blender at the store. The next day, I used it to blend batches of pumpkin soup. I have plenty of experience with Oster blenders, having owned the beehive model for several years. Yet I could not get the jar to sit securely on the motor base. It always seemed to have some wobble to it. I blended my soup, but somehow it didn't sound quite right to me, and there was a slight burning smell when it ran. Upon inspection I found that the drive shaft could be moved back and forth with my fingers. Looking through the vent at the bottom, I could see the whole motor was moving back and forth as I did this. About a 1/4 inch!
I had already registered the warranty online, so I sent an e-mail to the company asking about this issue. It took two days to hear back from them, so in the meantime I returned the...

A real performerrrf
While I only purchased this blender a month ago,the the metal to metal design has been around a long time and is proven. I actually replaced an old Avocato Oster (circa 70's) blender that worked fine with a top of the line Kitchenaid three speed that I was finally glad to throw out. I have no axe to grind with Kitchenaid and own other of their products that work fine.
I don't care what brand you buy but make sure that both the cup and the gear drive are both made of metal - metal to metal. If either is plastic, you'll be tossing it in five years or less. (Kitchenaid)

Performance: tried crushing ice with this on high speed and it worked fabulously. Tried again on the low speed with the same results. Nice smooth ice and no chips.

Also just used it to make a fine powder from soda crackers for a meatball recipe. Perfect. Nice soft powder, no chunks of crackers.

My only other comment was price. If you do not need the Brushed Nickel, save the money ($20...

8 months in still working as good as day 1!
This is my first review of any sort of kitchen product. I bought the Oster 12 speed blender (in red--my favorite!) mostly to make smoothies. I make them about 4-5 times per week. I usually use frozen fruit, yogurt, and some form of juice or liquid. I use crushed ice probably less than 25% of the time--so if you are planning on using this blender to crush a lot of ice you may need to look for additional reviews of how it performs that function. For me and the limited amount of ice I use it has worked perfectly.

The glass jar is excellent and I've had no problems with cracking or breaking. All of the pieces fit well together and I really like how the "seat" of the jar in the blender does not include a lot of strangely shaped electronic pieces that are hard to clean. This one works by having the blender sit on a piece of metal. My last blender had weird plastic and rubbery items that covered the "seat" and it was very tough to clean.

I am exceptionally happy with...

Kegerator Cleaning Kit

Good product everything you need to keep your beer fresh... first time was a little slow getting use to the proceedure. But the second time was very fast. I use everything but the wrench, I did'nt need it for my model...I looked on youtube for video on how to use. this made things much easier.
thanks

This works Great!!!
This is super easy to use and it works fantastic!!! If you have a kegerator you need to clean it and this kit is what you need.

Great kit
My friends gave me a kegerator as a gift and I've been loving it. This kit is really helpful for cleaning. It would get 5 stars if it had laminated instructions, and a little hanger to keep the bottle hung above the faucet opening without holding it. Other than that, the instructions are clear and helpful, the brushes fit well, the little spanner wrench is spot on. I like the kit.

Uber Goop WHITE Dishwasher Rack Paint & Glue w/40 caps

Save your dishwasher!!!!
New racks cost an arm and a leg. Our dishwasher is over 10 years old, but does a great job - and we don't want to replace it until it stops working. We put several thin coats on the worst spots and then let it dry overnight. All the repairs have held up - and no more rust spots on the dishes. The caps are great, just pop them over the ends and you're done.

Money-saving repair -- quick and easy!
Works great! Easy to apply and use. Rack looks new again. Can't wait to test how long it will last. Stuff dries pretty quickly so you need to work fast as you apply it. Fast delivery and came packaged in a unique protective "toilet paper like" spindle package. Bought a used dishwasher and with this repair kit, I saved over at least $200 doing my own refurbishment.

This Stuff Really Works!
I was skeptical about Uber Goop. Come on, the name itself sounds like a gimmick! But, out of curiosity, I went ahead and ordered it. When I arrived I put on the latex blue glove that accompanied the goop and went to work on my dishwasher basket. I put a drop in each cap and stuck it on each basket wire top. Then I put some goop directly on other worn spots on the basket. I let it dry overnight and ran the dishwasher the next day. Nothing came off or peeled away. It's now been more than a month and none of the repair areas are peeling, cracking or pulling away. And I run my dishwasher every night...hey, what can I say, I'm a guy. Why do dishes by hand when I have a huge device powered by a motor. The stuff really works! But caution. If you have a large amount of repairs, you may want to buy a couple of the goop bottles. It does start to thicken during the repair project. But I repaired about 30 tops and maybe 10 worn spots elsewhere before the bottle became unusable. Good...

Philips HD9220 Viva Collection Airfryer with Rapid Air Technology for the Perfect Results.

Used everywhere but USA ... buy for less online.
I just got back from visiting family in Australia and noticed that "airfryers" are in nearly every household. From what I've observed over the years, Australians seem to be more health conscious than we are here in the US (smaller portion sizes, eat seasonally, no growth hormones in dairy and meat, fewer preservatives in packaged foods, etc) anyway, they still love to eat, drink and celebrate with food like everyone else on the planet. So they find work-arounds ... enter air fryers. You can give your kids home made chicken nuggets and fries that taste as good as what you would purchase at any fast food chain (even better actually) and do it all at home and eliminate the deep fryer.

This is an EXCELLENT unit that is well made, looks great, and really lasts (my in-laws and several friends have had theirs for a couple of years with no problems.) It sells for a lot less in Australia (go figure, virtually everything else retails for more) but this tells you it's a great seller...

What's not to like about frying with no oil?
Yes, the price is steep for a kitchen gadget like this. But I think it is worth the investment especially if you like fried foods once in a while.

This gadget essentially use the same techology as a turbo broiler. I opted for this is because I live in an apartment and I dont need the size of a turbo broiler to make food just for two people. Its size fits the counter top like a normal sized coffee maker.

I used it to make parmesan chicken tenders and reheat fried chicken so far. The chicken tenders were lightly sprayed with Pam, and they came out tender, juicy and crispy! Store bought left over fried chicken tastes good and freshly cooked with 10mins heating time.

Pre-heating is only 3 mins for 350F which is a great time saver compared to preheating an oven.

Clean up is also a breeze. I'm excited to make some sweet potato fries this weekend.

Skeptic: converted
Been looking at the low-fat type of fryers for years. The appeal was obvious: delicious fried food without the guilt.

None seemed to fit the bill - based on reviews all the low-fat fryers were flawed in some way. Food was mushed by the paddle, smelly, hard to clean. So kept passing.

Then I read about this little gadget on a European recipe site. They have been around for a while, but had skipped the US for some reason, until now.

Hundreds of reviews were almost all 5 out of 5. OK: now I will get one.

WOW! Easy to use, easy to clean and, finally, guilt free fried food. Made recipes from the included book - then made some from online. With one exception (the use of tapioca starch on a fried chicken leg which made it taste powdery) the results have been as advertised. Look for air fried chicken chop - it is fantastic. No oil used at all - best fried chicken we have ever had.

French fries with 1 Tbs oil? My result was good...

Melitta Coffee Maker, Porcelain 6 Cup Pour- Over Brewer

Melitta Manual Coffee Maker
I was brought up on Melitta drip coffee makers and that's all I've used so you might say I have more than 65 years of experience with these. We used to take them on vacations because the coffee we made so far out-distanced other available percolated or coffee-maker generated coffee. My only disappointment is that the purveyor of these for Amazon charges much more money for the set than does the Melitta site on the Internet. How did that happen? So far I've always found Amazon to have the best prices for everything I purchased online.

phenomenal taste
I've been brewing coffee manually for many years, using a plastic cone filter holder. I recently switched to this porcelain filter holder, and it really brings out a huge improvement in the taste. The porcelain conducts the heat better and eliminates any kind of plastic taste. With the cap on, the coffee stays warm for about an hour.

Two complaints: the #4 paper filters are a bit too small; you can actually use a #6 filter. Also, there is only one hole in the filter holder, so brewing can be a bit slow sometimes, and when I do try to rush things, there is sometimes clogging which requires my adjusting the filter a bit.

But this porcelain filter holder does produce the best coffee I've ever had at home, a coffeehouse, or a restaurant. With coffee, lo-tech and slow-brewed is always the best way to go.

A Poor Imitation
I was delighted when I found this item and ordered it to replace my treasured old Melitta 6-cup porcelain drip pot that had been dropped and broken. The original pots were made in Germany and had a nicely sculptured shape. Most important was their uniquely designed spout with its small hole that prevented coffee from dripping down the side of the pot when it was poured. I don't know whether that spout design is patented and often wondered why its simplicity and effectiveness was never copied.

The item that I received from Amazon was a very poor Chinese imitation of the original. I would have returned it but it is not returnable (buyers beware!). The shape of the pot is clumsy and thicker than the original. The spout drips when liquid is poured from it. Detailing of the filter is less refined and it may not work as well. Even the box with its ersatz Melitta logo is too small for the pot, lending evidence to my assumption that this pot was made in a factory with poor...

Rowenta DA1560 Classic Compact Steam Iron with 200 Hole Stainless Steel Soleplate 1000 Watt, Purple

Rowenta Travel Iron, a candid report
Rowenta Travel Iron DA1560 purchased on Nov. 16th 2009

Good Points:
1. It is very compact and lightweight. Easy on the wrists. Easy to empty.
2. It has the vertical steam feature.
3. It has dual voltage for foreign travel 120v / 240v.
4. Comes with its own zippered durable storage pouch.

Bad Points:
1. It has a microsteam stainless steel sole plate of 200-holes instead of 400-holes. Its tiny "burst of steam" is nowhere near the power of the locomotive, full-sized professional Rowena iron. It never pressed my cotton clothes well.

2. No 360 degree cord rotation. Always awkward ironing.

3. No spray mist feature. Bring your own spray bottle.

4. Small 2 oz. water reservoir means refill often. Good for two shirts.

5. Yikes! No automatic safety shut off.

6. Heating unit died before warranty ended. Short life span, less than a year.

7. Made in China, not Germany.

Great for Crafters
I quilt and go to classes with others. Everyone who has used this iron has been impressed. For the small size (great for hauling to classes) it performs as well as full sized units. Instead of always bringing out the big iron, this is nice for getting into those hard corners and is still good on big surfaces.

Rowenta travel iron
After my old Rowenta travel iron died, I wanted another one. This one is great! I use it all the time when ironing fabric for quilting. My large Rowenta sits in the closet; this one is so much easier on my wrists and hands. Also, the myriad of steam holes is very nice.

Great Northern Popcorn 2-1/2-Ounce Red Tabletop Retro Style Compact Popcorn Popper Machine with Removable Tray

Great Purchase
I love this machine! Pops perfectly, and tastes fantastic. Works best if you follow the directions and let the popper heat up before adding the oil and popcorn seeds. Easy to clean and convenient to use. Pops really quickly! I highly recommend to everyone.

Good for the size.
Have a newborn, so will not be getting to the theater to fill my movie popcorn cravings any time soon. The little Bambino makes nice popcorn. More than enough for one person, not enough or barely enough for two. I chose it was the smallest kettle-type popcorn maker I could find, given I have little storage and counter space to spare. Given the size accessing the kettle is cramped and when you dump out the popcorn some may fall out the front. Since lid of kettle cannot be removed, cleaning the kettle can be challenging. Over-all happy with The Little Bambino.

AMAZING!
this product is amazing and is fast and simple and safe.
I bought this for my son, and he loved it so much!
i helped him pour the oil and kernels and the rest he did himself.
The popcorn was delicous and was popped to perfection! YUMMY

Hamilton Beach SmartToast Extra-Wide Slot Toaster

Works great for bagels!
I purchased this toaster because I like toasting bagels, and had trouble getting them out of the traditional toaster designed to toast bread. This toaster is designed for a bagel lover. It has functions that toast on one side, and handle frozen bagels as well as frozen toast (works best on thick slices). I am pleased with the toasting function. If you like long sliced artisan breads, however, they are likely to poke out of the slots of this toaster and the entire slice will not be toasted.

One nice feature is that the crumb tray which used to slide out from the back in my older model has been moved to the front, so it is now easier to remove the crumbs.

The outside stays cool to touch, so you don't get burned if you touch it.

The toaster looks very nice and its size is 12.5" x 7.9" x 9.3". The power cord is about 1.5 feet.

Not So Great For English Muffins.
I bought this toaster after reading the one single 5 star review, but this item doesn't perform as well as I had expected.

The title of this review says it all. This toaster is not so great with English Muffins. I have tried all settings, from light to dark toast and also the bagel option. English muffins come terribly under toasted every single time, so I'm forced to put them in twice to get a nice even brown. If not, they come out barely toasted and just in some spots, mostly the edges, but the middle is as white as they are before putting them in. The instructions say that using the "bagel" option is a good idea for english muffins, of course, I tried it, but this gave me the same results, under toasted muffins.

For regular bread, the toaster is good. I didn't tried it with any artisan type of bread, so I can't say much about that.

The toaster's housing is made of plastic, which helps to keep it not cool, but safely warm during and after operation,...

Toasts quickly!!
I bought a T-fal Classic Avante 4-Slice Toaster in March of 2009, in late 2011 the right side crapped out and doesn't work. I bought this Hamilton Beach because it takes less space and was inexpensive. Love the Hamilton beach so far. It toasts REALLY fast and takes little space. Definintely recommend.

Broan F403004 30-Inch Two-Speed 4-Way Convertible Range Hood, Stainless Steel

this was perfect for my needs!
I never had a stove without a range hood, but when I moved in my new house (which is actually a very old house) there were only cabinets above the stove. No hood at all. I really missed the light the most! Venting would have been very difficult as the house is made of stones, and the walls inside are concrete blocks with metal mesh holding plaster. Not a simple drywall type installation at all. So I decided a ventless hood was the best and easiest option for me. I worried that it wouldn't be effective, but it does a surprisingly good job at moving air. A little noisy, but most hoods I have ever owned were slightly noisy. There is a clip-on cover for the front little vents if you indeed have a vented option.

I did not know that hood was not shipped with the extra filter needed for ventless operation. There is a mesh cover for the fan, but it is not a filter. Further, the item amazon featured on the hood product page was NOT the one that went with this. I went to the Braun...

Noisy, but does the job
For the money, i guess it is unfair to expect a whisper quit unit, so you get what you pay for with this.
I was replacing a very old Broan hood, so i got this mainly because i had hopes that it would fit the space i had with minimal fuss and this did hold true and thereby accomplished my primary goal.

I was a bit amazed that being 30 years newer, the filter arrangement was so flimsy compared to the one i was replacing. I'll just have to live with that. This unit is also noticeably noisier than the original as well.

One thing that also surprised me was that if you vent the unit out through the wall, there is a vent in the front that must be covered up with a cheesy looking black plastic cover. I didn't notice it in the pictures on the amazon web site, but it is very noticeable in my kitchen. This is the result of having chosen a 'convertible' unit. I could not discern what the term actually meant and assumed it meant venting through the back or the top. In...

Great little hood for the price!
Our builder-grade (G.E. brand) hood bit the dust so we bought this one. Fully expected I'd have to hire an electrician, so we "uninstalled" our other unit to save time (because electricians charge by the hour). When we got it out (four screws!) we looked at it and figured out that we could re-use the other unit's electrical plug on this unit (we have an electrical outlet in the cabinet above our hood) so we did. It took my husband and I about 30 minutes to install (one holding the unit, while the other one puts in the screws). It is versatile, too, because you could use it on just about any kind of vent (round or rectangular) and it fits beautifully. It is SOOO much quieter than our other one, and you can actually feel the air rushing past your hand when you turn it on(our other hood was never that efficient!) Checking online for other prices, the cheapest I could find was about $150 or thereabouts, so imagine my surprise when this one arrived in perfect condition, and was so...

Slushy Magic Slush Cup

Slushy Magic works!
I'm not sure why there are bad reviews, my daughter has been begging me for this, and after she earned it, I happen to see Walmart selling it, and bought it for 14.99. We brought it home, and I jumped on the computer to see what everyone is saying about it, and I warned her that there were a lot of reviews that said it didn't work, so be prepared. She put the cubes in the freezer overnight, the next day she added cold juice...(we've always used a refrigerated beverage; pop, juice, lemonade) I then told her it would probably be better if she threw it back in the freezer for about ten minutes with the beverage inside. So that is what she did (and what she continues to do), we shook it up, and presto, its a slushy! She loves it, and so do I because we can use sugar free lemonade and just about anything. We shake it for about four to five minutes. I recommend putting it in the freezer again with the beverage inside for about ten minutes.

Waste of money!
I am so disappointed in this product. My only hope in writing this review is to warn other consumers what a waste and complete rip off slushy magic is. Slushy magic had a very kid friendly informercial, and my 4 year old daughter fell for it right away. I rarely buy things from TV informercials, so I told my daughter Santa would bring it to her for Christmas. That was six months ago and she held on tight to Santa bringing it down the fire place.I was hoping she'd forget about it but no avail. I went to the website, which is so poorly made, about 6 weeks before Christmas and when I went to purchase it I saw in very tiny words that It could take up to 2 months to have it delivered! But for and extra fee they could ship in in 7-10 business days. I was shocked to learn that the shipping and handling fee was almost as much as the product itself! That's where they get you. I couldn't believe I spent almost 40 bucks on two cups and two straws. As I take the ice cubs out of the box, there...

Amazon deleted my original, so GUESS WHAT I'M POSTING IT AGAIN!
Amazon deleted my original review (sadface!) Sorry Amazon, you asked for honesty, I am providing it.
****************************************************************************************************

To whom it may Slushy-fy,

First off, thank you for such a fantastic idea. It has been my long standing dream in my 29 years upon this Earth to have, in my house, the ability to re-create the most deliciousness that I once had to journey towards 7-11 to fulfil. Now if you knew where I was from, you would know that this involved fighting off hordes upon hordes of homeless people asking for change, beer money, asking for a hook up, and propositioning me because I am apparently exquisite, for some unknown reason or low standards. With the new reasonable fear of a Zombie Apocolypse (homeless people smoke bath salts, 'cause they obviously don't use them correctly, have you smelled one lately?!) the thought of having my own little minislushifier within the palms of...

14ALL Filter Queen Cut-to-Fit Replacement Carbon Pre-Filter

Cheap and Perfect
SO inexpensive and yet perfect for everything from home air filters to cat boxes-- just cut to desired size! And the carbon is great for getting pet odors out of the house, too.

Using this in an old Alpine Aire unit.
I'm using this in an old Alpine Aire unit. The unit had a thick carbon filter that was long past the point of being usable. It started to fall apart when I was blowing it out so I bought this hoping it wouldn't be too 'dense' for the unit to suck air through. I used 3 layers of it sandwiched together in the original filter frame and it pulls air through it just fine. I ordered two of these and I probably have enough to redo this filter for several years to come.

Just as ordered.
It was just what she wanted. She is now off my back.
That is the bottom line. That is all.

Bodum 11451-913US 17-Ounce Electric Water Kettle, White

Efficient but still a little pricey
If you are a single or specifically want a small kettle that takes up little space, this is it. Unfortunately it also seems to be one of the few small ones in this product niche so you have to get hit with a higher price than what it's worth.

This kettle basically holds about 2 mugs of coffee. It says 4 cups on the water level, but that is the euro-size 4 oz servings. Filled, it boiled for me in about 3.5 minutes. The lid doesn't remove, it pops open on a hinge, I actually like this feature. It doesn't say bpa-free on the box, but it's advertised as such so I'm taking their word for it. It takes a few minutes before you can use it again; never a problem with me. Finally, it is a cute product and the only reason it won't get 5 stars is that for a plastic kettle, it's too expensive - but it seems to have no competition in the market and it IS perfect for me as a single in a small apartment.

Do not hesitate!
Most excellent travel kettle. Love it. Spent FOREVER researching the perfect kettle to make my morning cup of tea whilst away. I called the company to verify the BPA free claim - it is all true and correct. Hurrah. Love it so much I use it at home and whilst travelling. Great kettle. For those who make green tea, just boil, flip up the hinged lid and the water will cool to perfect temp in a few minutes, flip lid back down, pour and enjoy your brew!

Bodum Electric Kettle
This kettle really lives up to my expectations! It is a nice size and shape for storage, boils water quickly, is made of durable material, and best of all--the water doesn't taste like hot plastic! It is great for boiling 3 cups or less. perfect for my evening tea. I had been looking around before I purchased this on Amazon, and found a wide range if prices and reviews on electric kettles. The Bodum had the best reviews and a modest price. I highly recommend!

T-fal 5332002 Classic Avante 4-Slice 6-Setting Toaster with Bagel Option, Black

Not perfect - but better than the competition
When I decided I wanted to upgrade from a two-slice toaster to one that accommodated four slices, I researched the possibilities by visiting many stores, asking friends for recommendations, and reading reviews here. I finally settled on this T-Fal Avante toaster, which comes in shiny chrome metal and black plastic, with wide but short slots for four slices of bread. Perhaps the best feature is its dual toasting system, with two slots working independently of the other two, allowing for different settings and different start times. The slots are angled forward, and have lifts to raise the toast higher out of the slots upon completion of the toasting cycle. The two special settings, bagel browning (single side toasting) and reheat, apply to only one side - two slots - of the toaster. Both sides have independent cancel buttons. The back of the machine is flat, and so can be placed flush against a backsplash. The browning is even as long as both pieces of bread are the same...

Poorly made
We bought this toaster after diligent review of published opinions. I was apprehensive about the failure rate but the features and aesthetics influenced me to overlook the bad reviews. The toaster worked for one week - maybe 20 slices of toast. (it is just the two of us). The left-hand hi-lift handle went bad, cocked sideways and jammed.
Amazon was impressively efficient in the return process and I will continue to shop confidently at their website, I just won't buy another T-Fal appliance.

BIG FOOT (print)
I've been searching for about 3 months for THE toaster. I bought this and am very happy with it. After unboxing it, I was suprised as to how big it is. I will now have to find an appropriate name for it. He's a big boy. The style is above all appealing to the eye and it does toast well. I'm very satisfied. Money well spent.

3 EUREKA ORIGINAL STK VACUUM FILTERS #61544

A great find.
I love my stick vac but the filter was getting pretty flimsy from years of using and cleaning. When they first arrived I thought they sent the wrong thing. They didn't sent any directions so it took me some time to figure out I needed to just pull the old filter off the filter frame, replace it with one of these and put it back in the filter cup. Since 3 came in one package, when one gets filled with hair and dust I can just pull it off, wash it by hand, let it dry and then reuse it. While one is drying I can put on another and go on with my cleaning. Now, I can use my stick vac to clean my whole house in one day without loosing any suction just by changing the filter. What a great find!!

Not to bad for the price....
You have to pry the old one off of the plastic frame and
put on a new one. The old one will come off, you just
have to work at it. Don't throw out the plastic frame, that
is what hold the filter in its place. Da! This is a bitchh to
get back on. Use a knife with a pointed on it, to work your way around the rim, like changing a tire. Or put it in the microwave for a few SECONDS, to soften up the rubber. Then put it on.

easy find
looked all over town for these nobody knew anything about them found them on amazon in about two minutes along with a new battery(saved myself $40.00)these box stores are about sales no service

Vitamix Eastman Tritan Copolyester 32-Ounce Container with Wet Blade and Lid

Good things come in small packages
The quality of this container is just as nice as the taller version that came with the blender I just bought. I happen to prefer this handle to the larger container (also clear plastic) because it's rounded while the taller one has squared edges so it's not as comfortable of a grip as this one. But those are minor differences, it's really a non-issue.

The rubberized lid to this container is not the same as the lid you get with the 64-oz container so if you ever see this container sold without the lid don't think that you can use the 64 oz lid with it. But you can use the same tamper (as long as it's the newer model). I'm mentioning this because I almost made the mistake of ordering the mini-tamper thinking I would need it with this shorter container. That's why the two aren't sold together, the new design of tamper works for both containers.

Great size - Great Vitamix quality.
I am really enjoying this 32oz container and have found it to be an invaluable addition to my Vitamix 5200. Like others have stated, the measurement increments printed in black on the side of the container have been very handy. I can easily measure right into the container instead of getting a measuring cup dirty. Yes, the larger container that came with my Vitamix has measurements but, to tell the truth, before I looked at this one I never even noticed because they are too 'tone on tone' to easily see/use.

I also really like the way that the bottom part fits inside of the four prong things on the base of my Vitamix 5200 so it seems even more steady than my original container that goes outside the prongs. I use both, but I am very pleased that I got this one too. It's nicer to have a smaller container for many of the things I make.

One more thing - For others who may be curious, as was I because it was not addressed, the tampers that come with both sizes of...

Fantastic
Needless to say after spending 400 bucks on my Vitamix I was less than anxious to shell out an extra $130 for the 32oz. container but I just couldn't help myself.

The 64 oz. container is just big enough to make rinsing it a bit of a hassle (lazy I know) and it is beyond overkill when I am just looking to make a quick protein shake with 8-10 ounces of liquid.

I mainly use my Vitamix to make green smoothies and while people normally recommend around 32 oz. of green smoothies per day I just don't want to drink 32 oz. in one sitting and I don't like drinking the same "flavor" twice per day - instead I prefer to make two separate smoothies of about 16-20 ounces twice per day and the 32 oz. container is just perfect for that.

The only other thing I really use my Vitamix for is to make a peanut sauce and even with a rubber spatula getting it out of the 64 ouncer is a bit of a chore so I look forward to making it in the smaller container.

I was also...

Stainless Steel Rice Cooker Model ME81 (Formerly ME8) - by Miracle Exclusives

It is the stainless steel cooking surface that counts - 4 years later in 2012..
We cook rice and grains frequently, as do many Asian-Americans. We have used plastic-bowl microwave vessels, aluminum & teflon pots, steam pressure cookers and several others over the past five plus decades. They all work, but each has a down side. For instance wait till your visitors or grand kids hear the hissing monster of a pressure cooker.

We feared aluminum toxicity, teflon ingestion, plastic leaching and plain uncertainty of what new epidemiologic research will unleash on us tomorrow. My wife and I have conveniently labeled our failing intellects as chronic "rice-in" toxicity. Forget age, it must be all that peeling cooking pot and rice!

The stainless steel Miracle is a reasonable answer, unless we find out in some distant future that stainless steel is also a hazard. Probably not. This cooker performs well and passes muster readily with us. We have not noted any spills or crusty rice paste sticking to the bottom. We do have the advantage of having...

I have no complaints
I bought the rice cooker a year ago when I was looking for one that did not have non-stick coating or aluminum or plastic bowl. I'd been looking for a long time and was happy to find that this one had been changed/updated to include a stainless steel bowl.

We use it most for brown rice (which we eat at least once or twice a week) - comes out great! perfectly done and fluffy. Have also used it for oatmeal and other grains such as quinoa, as well as a bit for steaming vegetables. I found a ton of recipes online to make in this. Haven't tried all of them that I want to.

My company sells another, top of the line, expensive rice cooker. I don't use it because I don't want the "non-stick" bowl. I almost gave this one 4 stars then realized I have no complaints about this cooker, so gave it the full 5. Maybe I was hesitant because I just found out there is another rice cooker that has a crockery bowl. :-) I'd sure like to try it.

Exactly What I Wanted. Soak Then Wash
Highly recommended. Cooks very well. I have not cooked brown rice yet. White rice comes out great. I add slightly more water than with previous rice cooker. I wish every appliance had a non-teflon option.

It isn't coated. In order to clean avoid leaving warming heat on when there's very little rice left, keep lid on for warming, and simply soak cooking pot in water for a few minutes and wipe away easily with a sponge.

BestAir CB43 Essick 1043 Replacement Wick Filter

Quality replacement
I did not give this product a 5 star rating because I did not have the OEM filter to make a quality comparison. From what I can remember of the original wick, the BestAir replacement is of similar construction. This replacement filter is of good quality and functions, IMO, as well as the Bemis filter did, although I do not have the equipment to measure evaporation rates. I would definitely recommend this filter to anyone who is looking to save a little money over the Bemis OEM filter (which is now Essick Air). It is recommended that the filter be changed annually, so I would think that as long as the wick is moving water up into the airstream, one wouldn't need to purchase the most expensive wick out there. This wick also has MicroFree antimicrobial treatment. The Bemis and Essick Air wicks do not state such on their packaging.

This is the filter I ordered!
Fine --no problems--best price. 16 additional word requirement makes no sense--I have nothing more to say. What a waste of words.

This is a great filter
I have had this humidifier for many years and it decided to stop working, so I purchased a new one. These are good wicks because they really filter and you will NOT get white film on your furniture and stereo equipment like other filters. It lasts long and I only use 2 per season. Good value. I will buy again next season.

Dirt Devil 100 Classic 7 Amp Bagless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

Still a great hand vac!
I bought a Dirt Devil hand vac in the early 1980's because the carpet salesman where I bought my new carpet told me it would be far superior for use on stairs than the attachment that came with my upright (Rainbow) vacuum cleaner. He was right and I also loved that hand vac for cleaning my upholstered furniture. I bought a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner last year and I wish I could say that the upholstery attachment sucks, but it doesn't, and it is hard to put on and take off of the hose. I like the Dyson for my carpets but am not at all impressed with their attachments. So, today I bought this Dirt Devil Classic and it is great! I read the reviews here and others were complaining about some of the other models. This hand vac has a belt and the belt can be replaced. The owner of the vac shop told me the difference between the models that are receiving the complaints here and the Classic 0100 that I bought today is that the others are air driven and mine is belt driven and that's...

Much better than the old model!
I purchased this vacuum ($40+tax at Best Buy) to replace my old red Dirt Devil with the bag and onboard tools. The tools on my old one were constantly falling off while I was vacuuming.

This new model is a HUGE improvement! The suction is amazing! I used it on our carpeted stairs that I just had steam cleaned last week and was surprised at all the junk it sucked up. The clear dirt cup is much better than the disposable bags and emptying it is a breeze. I like how the tools attach and the crevice tool seemed to work well. The cord is long enough to vacuum the entire stairway and then some. I would recommend this vaccum to anyone who is tired of lugging their upright up and down the stairs!

I thought I liked it, but then...
I started out liking this machine, despite being not so fond of our former Dirt Devil "screamer" with the ridiculous belt changing routine. The problems with this machine are: try cleaning the pleated filter (good luck!) and the exhaust blowing out the sides and then slightly downward blows around what you're trying to vacuum up. I am really surprised no one else has mentioned these two issues (except for one person who mentioned the filter). After just one use, I had to knock the pleated filter against the trash can to loosen and remove the dirt--no go. So what are the options? Leave the dirt in there to continually clog it, and then be forced to go buy a new one for $5.99? I honestly think this was the goal of Dirt Devil, just to make an extra buck. And if you're trying to vacuum up pet hair, and anything light weight, watch it blow around from the exhaust as you go chasing it with the vacuum (utterly futile). It's on the loud side too. It IS powerful, but in the wrong...

Eureka WhirlWind® Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum, 4242A

For its price point and what this vacuum offers...5 Stars!
I have reviewed quite a few vacuums around the $60-$100 price range and I realized, I have not reviewed a Eureka bagless upright vaccuum yet. So, I decided it's time for me to review the "Eureka "WhirlWind Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum".

I. ASSEMBLY

Putting the "Eureka WhirlWind Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum" was rather simple. Everything snaps in together and there are five screws that you need to put in and tighten with a Phillips and that's pretty much it. You get a free extra belt for the vacuum (for the wheels) included and everything was really easy to put together.

Just follow the instructions as shown and you'll put this vacuum together in less than half an hour.

II. FIRST IMPRESSIONS

My wife was excited because of the vaccums we have, including our expensive Dyson vacuum, none of them have a retractable cord. Granted, for me it's no big deal as I'm used to winding things up a lot, but my wife has been hoping for...

Powerful, Practical, and just Perfect
I wanted a vacuum cleaner that was easy to use, practical in functions, and was dependable. I didn't want a vacuum with a bag or something I would have to continually invest money into. My mom refused to buy a vacuum that Consumer Reports didn't rate high by brand. We currently have a Eureka Powerpack SmartVac, or something like that, and strongly suggested getting a Eureka. I researched this vacuum and figured it was exactly what I wanted.

After receiving it for a Christmas gift, I was eager to test it out. It definitely worked better than our other Eureka and was much easier to clean. After emptying the canister out, I rinsed it out with water, cleaned the filter, and let it dry over night. It was dry by the morning and ready to go again.

The assembly was easy. The set-up guide was easy to follow. All you needed was a Phillips to put it together. The attachments all had a little place to go.

The retractable cord is wonderful and fast. The suction is...

Great Price, Great Product - Love the retractable cord!
As someone with hair down to my waist and lots of it, I end up needing to vacuum quite often. My house is all rugs except for the kitchen which means it takes me an hour to do the house. So that is 1.5 hours hours of vacuuming 3 days a week. It is quite the task and needs to be done methodically. Every room including under and behind must be done! My kids have allergies so keeping the rugs clean of hair, pollen, dust and dirt is even more important for our family.

I have reviewed one other vacuum cleaner this year and when I visit family, you will find me asking to see what vacuum they use because we have never had one that really did what we needed it to do.

What I loved most:

The cord is nice and long (27 feet) which means less unplugging and replugging. Saves me quite a lot of time.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the stair accessory which looks like a little mini vacuum that you attach to the hose. So many other vacuums have nozzles but unless I am...

Household Essentials Tabletop Sleeve Ironing Board with Steel Top

Good design, poorly constructed
I bought one of these about a year ago - not from Amazon, but from a local JoAnn Fabrics outlet. I used this item exclusively to press the sleeves of mens' dress shirts - 100% cotton, which calls for lots of steam and high ironing temperatures. At first, everything was fine. The metal frame is well-made and it folds nicely, and the padding and cover are also very substantial. But after several months, the ironing surface - which is made of particle board - began to lose its rigidity and to bend downward from a point roughly one-third of the way in from the narrow end of the board. Today it snapped in two at that point. An examination of the break reveals that the particle board ironing surface is completely unfinished or sealed in any way I could see, its only protection from steam and moisture being some contact paper applied over its surface. This product is probably good enough for low volume, light duty low steam ironing, but it is not up to snuff for the high-heat, high steam and...

Poor quality
I've purchased two of these....should have learned the first time. Both of them broke in the exact same spot. The particle board just cannot handle any sort of pressure and easily snaps. I will NOT be buying this kind of sleeve board again.

ironing board sleeve
very nice, I wijsh the cover was higher quality-however , what do you expect for $15??

Supco WF287 Refrigerator Water Filter Cartridge

Does not work consistently
I purchased a 3 pack (not from Amazon) for use in my GE Profile refrigerator. The first one worked fine, but when it came time to replace it, the second one would not work. After installing the second filter I received no water through the dispenser.

First I thought something was wrong with the water line. I pulled out the fridge and checked water flow into the dispenser. Water flow was good. I then started thinking the water valve was broken, but it seemed curious to me that it failed exactly when I replaced the filter....so I tried putting the first Aqua Fresh filter back on. But again, no water.

Before I started replacing valves, I wanted to completely rule out the filter as potential cause so I put the bypass plug into the filter holder and water began to flow again.

At this point I'm thinking it must be the filter. I go to the local store plop down the the ridiculous sum of $43 for the GE brand filter, plug it in, and it works! I then...

It's worth paying extra for the original part
This is an "after-market" product that costs about 1/3 less than the original name-brand replacement. When I received it, it seemed as if it could possibly be used. I suspected this b/c the label affixed to the filter had sort of "stretch" tears on it (the kind of tear from a twisting motion that might occur from torquing the product in or out). Besides that, there is a seal that goes on the very top which was present but not affixed, and the box seemed a bit dirty/smudged. I put the filter in after following the directions of filling it with water, etc., and I immediately noticed a strange taste in the water. I thought maybe I just needed to run it for a while, but the taste never went away. I kept it in for several weeks but both the water and the ice tasted weird. I contacted the company & they assured me it was brand new and offered to refund my money. I returned it to them & got a prompt refund, which was great (they were very responsive & pleasant to deal with). Then I...

Whirlpool 8171433K Air Purifier Carbon Pre-Filters, Small, 4-Pack

Works well
These filters fit the small Whirlpool air filtration units (AP150, AP250). I've been running an AP150 near my bed for many years, and I've had noticeably fewer allergy problems as a result. Replacing this filter every 3 months, and the HEPA filter every year, this keeps working, does the job. Amazon has a great price on these (at the time of this review anyway, for $22 & change per 4-pack).

Pre-Filters are part of the technology
The air purifier needs a prefilter and a regular filter. I know the prefilter works because I can see the dust it collects. My purifier runs constantly next to the litter boxes but it takes about 3 months to become completely covered. Mfr recommends changing every 3 months so that works out perfectly.

Glad to have found this good deal, and will be buying again in the near future. Its a pack of 4 quality pre-filters, and the price was right! Fast shipment.

Mint Plus 5200 Automatic Floor Cleaner Battery

Works Well
Battery came on time as initially indicated. I charged it for 5 hours, cleaned my wood floor (900 sq ft) it was like a new machine, with life left in the battery!

Happy to have mint working "properly" again.
I purchased Mint for less than five months and it started to behave strangely. I saw one of the review saying that it was properly because of a dying battery. I ordered a battery for replacement and it was shipped promptly. Now our Mint works fine. On one hand, I am happy that it works now. On the other hand, I am kind of disappointed that it died too soon. I wonder how long this one would last.

I did recommend Mint to some of my relatives and friends before the death of the first battery. But now...:)

Overall, lower my expectation of what Mint can do for me, I am happy with it because I don't have time to do it myself and it is better than no cleaning at all.

fixed the problem
My Mint Pro had lost its mind and was doing all kinds of weird things, like running backwards and in circles. When I put the new battery in, it regained its former sanity and now works great.

Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express, White

A trusted travel companion
I bought one of these close to ten years ago and it's still going strong, though I've taken it on three cross-country trips, countless weekend getaways and even to Guatemala.

Why? First, I don't like using hotel/motel coffee units -- who knows how clean their innards are? This holds more liquid, is easy to clean, and I know where it's been!

Second, it's useful for more than just heating water. I once took my daughter to a nice Disneyland hotel for four days, and did all our cooking in this little pot because food was so pricey. I heated soup, ramen, veggies, all kinds of things... and we actually ate well (though simply) the whole time.

Other reviewers have noted that it doesn't have auto shut-off. That's a good point, and it's a bit of a pain, particularly when you're as forgetful as I am. But the water always boils loudly enough that I hear it. Could be a problem in everyday use if you are wandering from room to room; fine for a motel.

Great little device to have at work
At my workplace we have no hot water dispenser. Before this, I was resorting to microwaving a mug of hot water. I was recommended this device as a tool for shaving, but I found that it got the water a little too hot for my shaving needs. I took it into work and have been loving the thing ever since. In the time it takes me to clean a spoon in the sink and get yogurt out of the fridge, the water is hot enough for tea. The exterior stays quite cool and can be picked up and touched immediately even when the water inside is scalding hot. I've even boiled milk, water, and black tea together in this unit without problems. Cleans quite easily.

What a well-spent $12 this has turned out to be.

A real convenience to have!!
I love this little pot! It boils water and cooks everything very fast!! I have one at home and one for my travels. This little hot pot is terrific when one is away from home and has no kitchen. The non-stick bottom makes this pot a breeze to clean up! I have dietary restrictions and can not go out and "grab a bite" like most other people, when I am not near my house. I especially recommend this pot to anyone who may suffer the same problem as me. I would be lost without this pot, when I need to be away from home. :-)

Whirlpool Agitator Cam Repair Kit 285811 285746 3351001

Easily installed repair kit
Since Whirlpool designed my washer using parts with a relatively short lifespan, at least they had the consideration to make those parts inexpensive and easy to replace. Almost all the parts in this kit were worn on my washer, so I am glad I bought the full kit instead of just the set of dogs. Replacement was very simple, but be aware that you do need a ratchet with about 10" of extension bars. There is a very good step by step video on how to install this kit at partselect.com. Search the internet for the site and then navigate to this kit via its part number.

Poor Quality Parts, Bait and Switch
I read the description for the product looked at the pictures and bought a product I thought was FSP, but received some crap knockoff. The parts that will see the most stain, the dogs, where made of cheap brittle plastic instead of latex or rubber. The remaining pieces were also made of a much thinner brittle plastic which will fail years sooner than the FSP parts I thought I was ordering.

The main problem I have here is that if I walk into a Honda dealership and pay $20,000.00 for an Accord LE I don't expect to given a $9,000.00 Ford Ka and told hey they are bot cars, right? I feel like that is exactly what was pulled here.

I choose the FSP parts for the quality and was given some crap knockoff. My overall cost from this vendor was the same as my local appliance repair parts price. I bought online because I thought they were the same. The seller will not contact you back. I guess I learn a lesson regarding this seller and how amazon didn't even contact me back,...

Couldnt have been easiser!
Very easy.... quick repair for my maytag washer. Works again! Took all of 10 minutes to fix! I am 52 yr old woman... so... if I can fix it... anyone can! Didnt even have to move the washer!

Surround Air Multi Tech Spare HEPA Filter for XJ-3000 Series Air Purifier

Surround air replacement filter
This is the replacement filter for the surround air. After I had spent months doing research on different air filtration systems, I did not just look at infomercials. I decided on surround air because it had 5 levels if purification and sanitizing. It was not super expensive. It had a longer warrenty than most. And a very important detail is that it was not expensive to maintain changing filters and such, it turns out to be about $2.50 a month. That seems a fair price to pay for waking with a clear nose and no headache.

Awesome smoke eater
Any air filtration system is only as good as the filters it uses. If your system takes these filters, you have about the best of the best for allergens, dander and smoke removal short of the condensing units used for commercial purposes. I think it might even do better than those smoke eaters in bars. The ion sanitation will really change the air in your place in less than an hour. I can't recommend this filter enough, my first one is still working perfectly 6 months later at 2 hours a day use.

Ninja Kitchen System 1100

Best of the Best Blender's
Updated 02-02-2012 (added Sugar Free info to recipe)
I got this for my birthday from my husband and son, they are good boys! It was something we had looked at on the TV ads and kept thinking on and surprise, I did get one! I was so happily surprised with the way this contraption did absolutely everything they claimed on the TV ad, although we're not normally the infomercial buying kind of people, we wait for them to hit the stores to trek the "As Seen on TV Isle".

I always start off with a warning when needed, so WARNING, THE BLADES ARE FREAKING SHARP, My husbands already cut himself at least three times just barely touching them, always-always-always keep the blade locked inside the containers, the other pieces can float around your drawers or wherever you keep them, but the blades, keep them locked inside the pitcher/blender units. The Pitchers are also plastic, they don't mar or cut easily, but the blades can and will scar them up, so careful keeping your pitchers...

GREAT Blender, but it is NOT a juicer
I love my Ninja 1100. I use it almost daily for one thing or another. Mostly Gazpacho these days. However, this machine is NOT A JUICER and should never be advertised as such, hence the four stars instead of five. It will NOT give you smooth carrot juice -- ever. It says to cook the carrots a little first, but that defeats the purpose of juicing for the macro-nutrients -- so. I have owned many many many blenders and the Ninja is the best yet -- as long as you think of it as only a blender. It does everything that the infomercial says EXCEPT for juicing.

Good blender
The Ninja is a blender and food chopper. It's a very good blender, and a fairly decent food chopper.

What the Ninja ISN'T:

IT IS NOT A JUICER. It will liquify fruits and vegetables to a drinkable state, but it does not remove the pulp. If you want true juice with no pulp (such as carrot juice and not pureed carrots), buy a juicer. Like the Vitamix, the Ninja can create "juice", but it is from the whole food and will contain pulp and possibly small chunks of food (especially hard foods like carrots).

IT IS NOT A FOOD PROCESSOR. It can be used as a food chopper, but it does not replace a food processor. It does not slice or shred, it only chops and blends. If you want to use it for chopping onion, making salsa, guacamole, pesto, sauces, etc., it should work fine. If you don't need a product to slice vegetables, or shred cheese or veggies, this may work OK as a substitute for a food processor.

IT IS NOT A VITAMIX. It may not blend quite as...
