FASTER THAN ORIGINAL
THE METAL PORTION SNAPPED TOGETHER WITH NO TOOLS AND QUICKLY. PUT METAL CAGE INTO APRILAIRE FILTER CABINET AND LOCKED TABS. INSTALLED FILTER QUICKLY. GOOD VISION AND GOOD LIGHTING MAKES THE JOB QUICK. i RECOMMEND IT AS A A-.
Works fine; too bad it's necessary
This is a nice kit -- all the parts are there to upgrade an older air cleaner to the higher-efficiency newer style. It's too bad, though, that Aprilaire didn't just make a high-efficiency drop-in replacement filter.
Pros
* Easy snap-together assembly via adequate instructions
* Fit is exact and doesn't jam, for instance
* Seems to load the blower unit about the same as before, but technically should be more permeable to air, less to dust, than the standard filter this replaces
Cons
* Frame could be a little sturdier, but for something that sits stationary for months at a time, this is fine
Other thoughts
Ordered the filter for this by accident, realized what I had done wrong, and had to order this too. I now have two filters, which of course is fine in the long run. I'm giving it a 5-star because the visible qualities are all there, but I lack the equipment to actually determine if the media truly performs per spec. It does...
Nice - Upgrade to cleaner house
Installed easily in 10 minutes. Dust in the house is noticeably reduced since installation. Would highly recommend to all owners

The best part about a Aprilaire filter is not only the efficiency and power, but the maintenance required on these units is minimal, and new filters are required on a yearly basis., unlike small portable purifiers that burn through filters on a monthly basis.
